Safety, Security and Loss Control Manager

West End Cement Bricks (Pty) Ltd. is seeking a highly competent Safety, Security & Loss Control Manager to take up this critical compliance appointment under Section 16.2 of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (No. 85 of 1993).
The successful candidate will be entrusted with safeguarding employees, assets, and operations by ensuring strict compliance with all health, safety, security, and loss control requirements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Compliance & Governance
Serve as the appointed Safety Officer in terms of Section 16.2 of the OHSA.
Ensure full compliance with OHSA, POPI Act, company policies, and statutory requirements.
Maintain statutory registers, signage, records, and reporting documentation.
Conduct audits, enforce corrective actions, and stop non-compliant activities where necessary.
B. Health & Safety
Develop, update, and implement the company SHE Plan and Environmental Protection Plan.
Manage PPE stock levels, purchasing, issuing, and enforcement.
Conduct daily toolbox talks, sign off on daily training, and deliver monthly training sessions.
Perform regular safety inspections across all production, mobile plant, logistics, and office areas.
Ensure safe operation and certification of heavy machinery, vehicles, and production equipment.
Oversee safe storage and handling of hazardous substances, fuels, oils, and chemicals.
Implement and manage fire safety, evacuation procedures, and drills.
C. Security & Loss Control
Manage outsourced security, access control, cameras, alarms, and perimeter systems.
Conduct inspections of stores, diesel tanks, gas storage, and other critical areas.
Implement and monitor loss control procedures for raw materials, production stores, and mobile plant assets.
Liaise with insurance providers, compile evidence, and process claims for incidents.
D. Incident & Emergency Management
Investigate workplace accidents, incidents, and near misses.
Conduct root cause analysis, compile reports, and recommend corrective actions.
Ensure immediate reporting to management and compliance with IOD requirements.
Attend accident scenes, de-escalate situations, and protect company reputation.
E. Operations Support
Oversee safety in production, crusher plant, and mobile equipment operations.
Conduct random inspections on trucks and despatch activities.
Ensure compliance in contractor site work, supplier access, and public interactions.
Provide induction training to contractors and enforce OHSA compliance.
Minimum Requirements:
Certification in Occupational Health & Safety, Security, or equivalent qualification.
3–5 years’ experience in safety, security, or loss control, ideally in manufacturing or industrial environments.
Strong working knowledge of the OHS Act, Regulations, and related legislation.
Proven experience in risk assessments, compliance audits, incident investigations, and emergency planning.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to train, report, and enforce compliance effectively.
Code 8 / Code B driver's license is essential.
Proficiency working in Microsoft Office 365.
